Arthur Beatrice are an alternative band from London. They approached Studio Edward in search of a restrained look that could complement their intelligent, introspective sound - to be utilised across anything from LPs to T-shirts. We established a visual language consisting of classical elements disrupted by the new.

Stephen Sprake is a dealer of extraordinary goods based in Marylebone, London. Studio Edward worked with him to establish an identity as irreverent as his collection, involving hand-stitched iconography, product photography and cataloguing as well as an immersive gallery website that could optimally showcase the ever-changing wares.

Chromorandomisation technology development

Handmade, high-contrast leatherwear: Ace + Spades is about the joy of the juxtaposition. Updating a traditional Menorcan craft, the aim is to emphasise diversity via an array of variables, manifested consistently throughout the products, the chromoresponsive ecommerce website, and the collateral. Engineered into every step is the vision of a democratic, inclusive attitude, to all colours, materials, sizes, genders.

Identity

Concert view, day
Matthew Bengtson

Held on the terrace of the ancient Buddhist Thikse Monastery in Ladakh, India, Scriabin in the Himalayas was a synaesthetic spectacular held on the Summer Solstice in tribute to the great mystic and musical genius, Russian composer Alexander Scriabin.

Studio Edward was integral to its creation, involved in everything from the identity and website to the logistics and set-up. The performance was the realisation of a century-long vision, and is in the process of being made into a full-length feature documentary.

ideas

Whether involving teams of people or lines of code, we employ a holistic approach in directing all manner of ventures and adventures. With a diverse array of clients and collaborators, through our work we seek to explore the interplay between nature and technology.

Rather than simply design, we aim to develop systems of creation, often leading to variable, bespoke outcomes formed by man, machine, or a combination. This complexity can manifest anywhere from web development to business development, from print to product, from theory to practice.
